Church Wedding Alternatives

So you’ve decided that a traditional church wedding may not be for you and you want some alternative ideas for your wedding ceremony. The following is a list of ideas to get you thinking of some alternatives to that traditional church wedding. You can use these ideas as they are or use them to spark ideas of your own for a great alternative wedding ceremony.

Here are a few ideas to get you thinking of some alternatives to that traditional church wedding ceremony:

1. At the place you met
2. A Destination – a place other than where you live now or your hometown
3. Revolving Restaurant – at the top of a skyscraper, like the Seattle Space Needle
4. City Museum or park
5. Bed and Breakfast Inn
6. Country Inn
7. Farm or Ranch
8. On Horseback – for equestrians
9. Vineyard
10. In the Mountains
11. Lakeside
12. Beach – Anytime of day can work but usually at Sunrise or Sunset
13. On an Island – Bahamas, Tahiti, etc.
14. At Sea aboard a Yacht – motor or sailing
15. Underwater - Scuba Diving or snorkeling
16. Sky Diving – For the adventurous types
17. Theme Park – Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, etc.

This is not definitive list but rather a jumpstart to get you thinking of places other than just a traditional church setting. Many of the above could be combined together. For instance you could have your wedding ceremony at a bed and breakfast inn ON a lakeside, or country inn IN the mountains. These places could also be near where you live, in or near your hometown, or they could be anywhere else in the world for a destination wedding (assuming the travel there fits into your wedding budget).
