Nowadays' many couples who are about to get married, have children either from a previous marriage or relationship, or plan to include a child family member in their wedding plans. When planning a wedding the common question "How are we going to include children in the wedding?", should not wait until the last minute. If you are stuck and in need of ideas of ways to include children in your wedding, keep reading.

Some couples choose to have children be a part of the wedding right in the beginning. Older children can help with the actual planning of the wedding by helping with the invitations, organizing guests list, running small errands, choosing a bridal gown or flower arrangements.

If the children are creative, they can help with making wedding favors and table decorations. They can help assemble activity books and children's wedding favor bags.

Many children are born with a gift of music or being able to write poetry. If your child has a special talent, ask them to sing, play an instrument, or read a special poem during the ceremony.

Children are often included in the wedding party by being a flower girl or ring bearer, a junior bridesmaid or groomsmen. There are also children who walk their mother down the isle or stand beside their parents during the ceremony. Other children may be asked to read a bible verse or be included in the vows.

The children can also serve as an Usher, hand out wedding programs, politely remind guests to sign the wedding guestbook, hand out the rice, birdseed, or bubbles, or take candid pictures with a disposable wedding camera.

When thinking of ways to include children in your wedding, always remember that children are unpredictable. Make sure whatever you ask the child to do, it fits with the child's personality and attention spam. Many children get really nervous if they need to perform in front of a group of people. It's important to schedule plenty of time for practice so everyone is comfortable with their role in the wedding.
