Basic Wedding Reception Decorations

After all the planning for the ceremony wedding decorations has been completed, it is now time to plan the wedding reception decorations.

These are just a few basic ideas for wedding reception decorations:

Reception Entrance
Balloons, potted plants, floral swags, or an archway can be used to decorate an entrance to the reception area.

Gift Table
The gift table can be a basic table covered in a floor length tablecloth. The gifts will add plenty of sparkle and color. For basic decorations, add large flowering plants front of or to the sides of the gift table. And add a decorated box or decorative birdcage for card collection.

Guest Tables
Cover guest tables with table linens or a tablecloth that compliments a wedding theme. Then, place on the wedding favors to add additional decoration, which can be made to match any theme and style of wedding. For an extra special touch, add dishes filled with candy or fresh fruits and place them on the tables, with folded napkins in creative napkin rings.

Table Centerpieces
Table centerpieces can be as simple or as elaborate as one chooses. Flower arrangements, mini ice sculptures, potted plants, or balloons all popular options.

Basic Decorations
Balloons, flowers, floral swags, tulle, and ribbons make great wedding reception decorations. Not only can they be used to decorate the entrance, the gift table, guest’s tables, and kid’s areas, they can also be used to decorate chairs, walls, and ceilings. If have a large space to fill consider balloons, they are easy to clean up, inexpensive, and keep kids busy. They can also be added to floral arrangements or simply tied with a ribbon.

Buffet Table
The buffet table can be decorated using a fountain or ice sculpture as a centerpiece. Large potted plants, trees, or floral or balloon arrangements can be placed behind or to the side of the table. Vases of flowers or candelabras can add a soft romantic touch. Bows, swag garlands, or tulle can also be used to decorate buffet tables.

Cake Table
A cake table can be decorated using silver or crystal punch bowls or a champagne fountain. The bridesmaids flowers can be placed on the table for added décor, or use rose petals, pumpkins and gourds, or colored confetti, depending on the wedding theme. The wedding cake can be decorated using natural flowers or with items matching the theme.

Keep in mind that, many ceremony decorations such as candles, pew bows, floral swags, flower arrangements, and balloons can be moved to decorate the reception location. The decorating possibilities are endless and can be made to fit into any wedding budget, wedding style, or wedding theme.
