Dark skinned lovely ladies, don't think we forgot about you! Today, Michelle Lo Conte (of I Do Hair and Make-up) offers up her expert advice on the best make-up hues for you!

Greys, browns and terra cotta hues are perfect for dark skin toned nearlyweds!

For Dark Skin Tones, you need a heavier hand when applying make-up. Don’t be afraid of color because what you see in the compact is not what you see on your face! But keep it simple – your skin tone is a fabulous accessory already, and be sure to let the depth and richness of your skin tone shine!

Fall/winter - Grays, browns and beautiful shades compliment your eyes. Some of my favorite cool-weather hues on dark skin include silver, bronze and terra-cotta with a dark brown or jet black eyeliner. Navy or deep purple mascara can really pack a punch especially when paired with light eyes and dark skin. Deep rose and plum tones look radiant on dark skin and dark berry tones or reds should be worn on the lips.

Spring/Summer – Golden bronzes, greens, teals and light and dark purples look awesome on the eyes in the warm months. Purple, emerald green and black eyeliners finish the look. Cheeks can be dusted in deep apricot tones or rich pink and brown-based blushes with or without shimmer. Brown-based bronzers with a lot of gold undertones look great. Lips can be left alone with just a tinted gloss or played up with shimmery golden pinks or light berry toned glosses.

In the spring and summer, dark skinned ladies should opt for purples, teals, and golden bronzes

  • Thanks for the tip from Sephota! I love the idea of a shimmery grey eye shadow and jet black eyeliner for the winter. Berry lips is a must!
