Bridal Fashion Style Watch: All The Latest Wedding Dress Trends!

Posted by Azure on March 23rd, 2010
Chicago's National Bridal Market was a great experience. It's always fun to see the latest and greatest wedding dresses from some of our favorite designers. This year's market was interesting, as there were a few undeniable bridal style trends that were popping up everywhere. Here's the inside scoop on what you can expect in 2010 and beyond... 1. Bright White Wedding Dresses Persevere No More: I was struck by the lack of bright white, diamond white, blinding white wedding dresses. Instead, I found myself enveloped by a sea of vanilla creams, rich ivories, and warm champagnes... and boy did it feel right! These off-white hues are much more complimentary (and forgiving) than harsh, bright white, so I'm raising my glass to this 2010 trend! Feel free to join me smile 2. Romance Is The Name Of The Game: There's no denying that romantic wedding dresses dominate "what's hot" for 2010 bridal fashion. I hate to say we called it (with our Top 10 Trends for 2010), but... we definitely called it! Think loads of lace and ruffles, fabric floral appliqué, and vintage-inspired necklines. 3. It's Not Just THE Dress Anymore: Many wedding dress designers have added bridal accessories to their fashion arsenal. Which is great news for brides-to-be, since the special bridal headpieces, belts, sashes, and necklaces are crafted especially to match specific wedding dresses. Lucia Aguiar (who designs the D'Amour bridal line) blew me away with her incredible bridal hairpieces and accessories... I was smitten to say the least! 4. Get Two For The Price Of One: We've already discussed that, for many brides these days, one bridal look just isn't enough. But what if you can't afford a sassy second dress for your wedding reception? Designers have taken note, and incorporated two-in-one dresses into their latest collections. Nearly every designer I met with had at least one wedding dress that'll allow for a fabulous Houdini moment- in which the bottom portion of the wedding dress can be detached. With such two-in-one wedding dresses, you can transform from a classic blushing daytime bride into a evening-chic newlywed ready to hit the dance floor! 5. Pleats, Tiers, and Pinwheels: 2010 bridal fashion is much more intricate than in the past. Beautifully tiered ball gown, mermaid, and a-line skirts dominated the wedding dresses at market. And impeccably-crafted pleats made a major statement as well. My absolute favorite trend that ties in with these wedding dress details- pleated floral appliqués that are made to look like little pinwheels. These unique floral embellishments feature elements like tiny snippets of tulle, vintage-chic pearls, hints of lace, feathers, and so much more. I could not get enough of these feminine floral wedding dress adornments! What do you think of these top 5 transformations in bridal fashion and style? Which trend are you most excited about!?
