Featured Rockin' Rock the Dress Bridal Shoot by Elizabeth of ENV Photography
It all started with a wedding dress
that I had bought on a whim, too good of a deal to pass up. Just like a wedding, the details started to fall in place once a central concept had been decided. Next came the girl, and what a beauty of a bride she is! Our bride is already married, is a wedding photographer
herself, and has very few photos from her own wedding that she was happy with, so a Rock the Dress session was a great way to make up for that!
The mood was to tie 1940's glamour to the Modern Age
style is still very hot right now! The hair styling (finger waves and pin-curls), the make-up (pretty red lips), the shape of the wedding dress, the red bridal shoes
- all helped set the mood for the understated 1940's style. The crowning glory, however, was the bridal bouquet with it's rich, glamourous deep reds, feathers, and rhinestones. The flowers
were more than just an accessory, they really helped set the mood!
So we achieved the vintage vibe with the bride's look, then merged her with a very unexpected urban setting, and there, pretty meets gritty! Back alleys, garages and basements with bold lighting definitely aren't traditional locations for wedding photos, but boy do they make an impact!
The best part of this shoot is that it would be easy to do on the wedding day, too! You don't have to spend money finding the perfect, pretty indoor locations and you don't have to battle it out with 10 other bridal parties at the traditional wedding hot spots. Every town has neat looking buildings, interesting snippets of architecture, a few diamonds in the rough that are the perfect backdrop for modern wedding photographs!
