About Bride Chic

Nordstrom has gone bridal. That's right. The in-store bridal boutiques newly named, The Wedding Suite, premiered with pilot stores opening in Chicago and San Antonio late 2010 as 12 more stores around the country opened in 2011.

The addition of bridal in Nordstrom comes in the wake of the recessionista bride who is still looking for a high fashion look on her wedding day sans the exorbitant price tag. When I stepped off the elevator in the San Francisco Nordstrom store about three weeks back, I suddenly found myself in a tiny bridal salon- something of which Nordstrom never had before. Curious, I browsed. The prices really got me: $138-$2000 with wedding dresses by David Meister, Marchesa, Sue Wong, Nicole Miller and Tadashi.

The Bridal Suite is a full service bridal salon in every sense. My eyes invariably zoned in on bridal heels, specifically some silver Jimmy Choos displayed on a glass table along with silver and pearl bridal jewelry. In addition, the store offers wedding reception dresses, bridesmaid ensembles, stunning bridal headpieces and I was told, foundations.

The Nordstrom philosophy is simple: brides will get to experience full-service department store bridal shopping without breaking the wedding budget. They do intend on offering the same high quality customer service that put them in the top echelon of department stores these 100 plus years. If you've checked out The Bridal Suite at your local Nordstrom, how did you find the experience? Let us know with a comment below!
