Wedding Day Hairstyles Straight from the Red Carpet

Almost as important as what the stars wear to the Oscars, is how they wear their hair! You may not be able to afford a couture gown like the dresses we looked at yesterday, but you can definitely copy red carpet style for your wedding day hair.

Two contradictory trends emerged this year:

1) Soft, loose updos – Think Charlize Theron, Demi Moore, and Anna Kendrick with their hair out of the way, but still loose and romantic.

2) Super slick updos – Think Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Seyfried, and Kristen Stewart, their hair was tight, sleek and totally elegant.

Although I generally thought the loose and romantic dos were prettier, I LOVED how Amanda Seyfried paired her romantic gown with a more low-key hairstyle. I wasn’t crazy about Sarah Jessica Parker’s dress (although it looks much better from the back), but she was smart to keep her hair simple, so that the dress took center stage.

Of course, there was also the adorable pixie of Carey Mulligan, and the long and loose locks of winner Sandra Bullock.
