Special to OneWed by Giselle, owner of Hair by Giselle
- September bride Julia C.
- Work with, not against, the bride's very thick, naturally curly hair to create a chic wedding day hairstyle.
- When I first met Julia, she knew exactly what she wanted in her bridal hairstyle
! She asked me to work with her curls to create a style that would allow lots of texture
to be seen, while keeping the hair soft, shiny, and natural
. I suggested we give Julia a little trim to tame her thick, curly texture and lighten up the look. The elasticity of curly hair can be very tricky to work with, and it also tends to lose more shine than straight hair. Since Julia's wedding dress
featured chic folds and pleats, I got creative with her hairstyle to mimic the movement and style of her dress; I created folds and overlapped sections of hair to achieve this cohesion.
The final look was a classic bridal updo
, off to the side and low on the neck. This look is very popular right now, especially with brides big on the romance! This particular wedding hairstyle allows the hair to be up and off the face, but still seen from the front with a soft effect. Meaning, in the wedding photos
, the bride won't look like she's sporting a ponytail
I especially loved the flower hair accessory
that Julia chose. It was the perfect size, not too big to take over her look, but big enough to make a statement!
So for all our curly haired brides who want to go natural on their wedding day, is this wedding hairstyle for you?
