One of my childhood obsessions has come full circle, and I obsess once again. As a kid, I begged my sister, mom, anyone with the magic touch to do me up with a fishtail braid. I LOVED it!
And while I never quite mastered the fishtail braid as a girl, it's now a go-to in my beauty bag of tricks. Thanks to the 2011 fishtail braid being chunkier, messier and more texture heavy than ever before, it's now a hairstyle
that you can totally DIY
are loving this hairstyle for their walks down the white aisle, and it's also perfect for all those pre-wedding festivities. Below is the how to on this DIY this bridal hairstyle
Apply a molding mouse to damp roots and spritz a leave-in conditioner on the ends of the hair. Blow dry rough using only your fingers to achieve a tousled, textured finish.
Separate hair into two equal sections
, sections you will braid to form the fishtail.
Using your right hand, take a thin strand of hair from the outside of the right section. Cross it over and add it to the left section. Repeat this process on the other side.
Continue the process outlined in step 3, alternating sides until the length of your hair is braided. Secure the braid with a hair rubber band.
Stretch and tug the braid width-wise to create extra texture and depth. Pull out a few choice strands in front to frame the face, and cover the hair rubber band with an embellished tie or something special.
It's that simple, and the finished look is simply gorgeous. Just check out the photos below by Jessica Janae Photography
