Over the next few weeks, right here on the blog, I’ll be taking you through how to plan an out-of-this-world destination wedding weekend!
The Wyndham Nassau Resort
in Nassau, Bahamas is where I learned the tricks of the trade, b
ut if the beautiful Bahamas isn’t right for you and your fiancé, these tips and tricks will work like a charm at any location you desire.
Let’s start with the rehearsal dinner, shall we?Samantha Goldberg
(celebrity wedding planner) and Party City
chose a luau-themed rehearsal dinner
, set right on the beach with waves crashing and the sun setting. How perfect is a tropical luau rehearsal dinner to really set the tone for a fabulous destination wedding!? Believe it or not (and I could NOT believe it), everything you see here, from the vibrant hibiscus stationery (used for the invitations
, escort cards, and dinner menu), floral paradise wine goblets
, festive table skirts
, tiki torches
and tropical lanterns, is from Party City! And you can purchase it all online, or at one of Party City’s 600 store locations, without breaking the bank. Not a single item costs more than $50!
The moment I arrived at the luau rehearsal dinner, the carefree island mood swept me away. Guests mixed and mingled on the decorated boardwalk before dinner, greeted with a lei
, hula skirt
, and tropical drink served up in a coconut shell. I couldn’t get enough of the boardwalk décor- the colorful parasols and bright paper lanterns
, adorable Flaming Tiki Heads
and Coconut Maraca Men
, floral fabric garland, and wood luau sign transformed this already picturesque location into the ultimate Hawaiian paradise. After a few Bahama Mama cocktails served in luau floral tumblers, it was time for the main event… the rehearsal dinner itself. This turned out to be a true Hawaiian feast, with each menu item infused with flavors of the island.
On Thursday, I’ll give you the skinny on everything you’ll need to create a gorgeous tablescape for your luau-inspired rehearsal dinner. And fill you in on the fabulous food and entertainment that made this tropical night a slice of paradise! In the meantime, head on over to the Hawaiian Luah section of Party City's website
