Featured Vintage Wedding by Bethany of Maypole Studios
The second I met Teri, I knew I wanted to shoot her wedding! She was a unique bride from the start, with a great sense of style. She embraced the vintage bridal look, and fused this with a rock and roll edge. Teri wore her mother's wedding dress
, which featured a beautiful brocade fabric and fur cuffs. The dress was made to fit like a glove by Silver Moon Vintage
in Chicago. Silver Moon also helped Teri to create a unique vintage-inspired fascinator for her veil with antique fabric, which pulled the entire bridal look together. It was an awesome headpiece, like a birdcage veil on steroids! I loved it! Unique elements like lovely Marc Jacobs bridal shoes
and a bracelet from the 1920's (worn by her husband's great-grandmother) made this vintage-chic bridal look out of this world!
The couple chose simple rose bouquets for their wedding flowers
, and an older church on the south side of Chicago for their wedding ceremony venue
. This gorgeous church was perfect, with its antique charm and a gospel choir. The front red doors provided a stunning backdrop for photos of Teri in her dress and veil. We traveled downtown afterwards for photos by the Chicago theater, being stopped by passersby asking if we were shooting a movie! I assume they thought this because of the wonderful style both the bride and groom exuded.
The wedding reception was held at the lovely Saddle and Cycle Club
. The couple allowed the stark white and classy interiors of the venue to speak for themselves, opting for clusters of clear ornate candle holders with long white tapers instead of large floral centerpieces. Teri changed into a cocktail style dress
for the reception, a knee length number with a sweetheart neckline by Priscilla of Boston
Honey Bee Weddings
helped organize the whole day, choosing highboy cocktail tables and a few scattered sofas and round tables to encourage a more relaxed atmosphere, creating a lounge-type feel for the reception. A buffet dinner and wedding cupcakes instead of a grand wedding cake kicked the "mix and mingle" vibe into full gear! Guests were encouraged to dance the night away after feasting on delicious bites like fresh tomato/mozzarella/basil flatbread pizza, and build your own baked potatoes. I just loved the creativity that was incorporated into every element of this wedding!
