Maria and Jim tied the knot in Long Beach, California. The Shoreline Yacht Club of Long Beach
was a gorgeous wedding venue
, and the perfect fit for their nautical-inspired wedding vibe. When Jim popped the question, he did it on a lifeguard tower in Redondo Beach, which made the decision to have a wedding by the water an easy one. Because Maria and Jim had planned on having a second wedding reception
in Cincinnati, OH in September, their wedding budget
was tight. To save money, Maria and Jim shouldered some of the manual labor tasks (like setting up the ceremony chairs and tables), with the help of friends and family of course!
Talented friends were called on for other wedding day must-haves & must-dos, another way that Jim and Maria were able to save their pretty pennies. The bridesmaids' dresses
were custom made, and their wedding florist was an old high school friend of the bride's, as was the wedding cake baker and the hair stylist who created Maria's gorgeous wedding hairstyle. And the make-up artist was Maria's sister.
The wedding vibe was simple and classic, infused with super fun touches. Check out the custom Wii characters of the Bride and Groom! Maria's sister created the "wedding" Miis
using photoshop, and the wedding invitations
and programs were totally DIY
. The wedding Mii cake toppers were customized with the bride and groom's actual wedding day garb by Paul Pape Designs
The royal blue, lime green, and white wedding color palette kept things fresh and light, and Maria's hot sapphire blue peep-toebridal heels
were to-die-for! Jim did his part by donning a pair of lime green socks under his classic black tux pants. The floral centerpieces
were kept simple by using only hydrangeas, making it possible for the bride and groom to DIY these, too! The adorable lime green origami boat escort cards were folded by hand by the bride, and coupled as decor for the wedding reception tables.
