My personal favorite, though, was Anne Hathaway, who sparkled in an Armani Prive creation from the fashion icon’s 2009 Couture line. Hathaway’s gown was reminiscent of a mythical mermaid, with graduated glistening paillettes and crystals adorning the dress in its entirety. Paillettes (essentially sequins with a sophisticated name) are one of fashion’s hottest new trends, so watch for these sparkling accents to grace the red carpets and fashion runways in seasons to come!
While shimmery golds and creamy whites were the dominant colors among Oscar gowns, two stars who donned shades of lavender blew me away! Natalie Portman, in a pale lavender, strapless chiffon number by Rodarte, and Alicia Keys, wearing a lilac Armani Prive gown, looked absolutely stunning.
After the red carpet had wrapped up, I was reminded of one of my favorite “wedding color combinations” from when I was a little girl playing M.A.S.H (Will you live in a Mansion, Apartment, Shack, or House?). I would select my ideal life, from my honeymoon destination, to my pet of choice, all the way down to the nitty gritty details of my wedding. My first choice for wedding color combinations was always champagne/gold with lavender/lilac/shades of purple.
I was truly inspired by the Academy Awards red carpet last night. And now, when seeking inspiration for my champagne and lilac wedding, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys and Natalie Portman will all be my Muses!
