In honor of its release on DVD/Blu-Ray today, the nice people at Walt Disney Home Video gave us five copies of The Proposa
l to give away.
We asked you to tell us your favorite wedding scenes from movies. We got a lot of great answers, and picked five at random.
The five winners, and their answers are:
So my favorite wedding scenes of all time are from "The Little Mermaid". (1) Is the when Eric is about to marry Vanessa (Ursual in human form). I love the cute little priest oblivious to all the chaos going on, and the part where the starfish lands on Vanessa's face is priceless. And, (2) Eric and Ariel's wedding, the whole thing is so sweet and romantic. I especially love when Max gets in the way.
This is difficult because I love romantic movies and I absolutely love to see weddings. i have to say, the scene in "The Graduate" where Dustin Hoffman comes running into the church, yelling "Elaaaaaaine! Elaaaaaine!" over and over until she hears and changes her mind, causing her leave with him. It is beautiful and romantic- although it technically isn't their wedding, it’s what we were all hoping would happen and I think that makes it so special. It creates hope for us to think that love could be so strong.
I think my favorite wedding scene from a movie would have to be “Ever After,” when Danielle finally gets to be with Prince Henry. I don’t even remember if they get married in the movie or if it is only implied in the scene where she confronts her stepmother and stepsister, but the fun relationship that they share always makes me want to wrestle with or discuss great novels with my fiancee.
“The Princess Bride” is the ultimate in humor and tongue and cheek to the Princess wedding.
The Clergyman conducting the wedding ceremony has a terrible speech impediment that makes every moment of the wedding so funny.
For example: "Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togethaw today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam... "
Oh that and the brides' true love (not the Prince she is marrying) is
coming to break up the wedding and there are constant interruptions to the ceremony. Including a skip to the end, declaring them Man and Wife without the "I dos."
I can think of several good wedding scenes that I like:
In “Wedding Crashers” when Owen Wilson’s character disrupts the Vince Vaughn’s wedding attempting to apologize to Rachel McAdams. (I never can remember character’s names.)
Or in “Mickey Blue Eyes” when James Caan gets "shot." Ok, wedding reception.
How about “Made of Honor,” where Patrick Dempsey’s character is sent flying off his horse and through the chapel doors just as the Priest is asking for objections?
Naturally I like all of these because I find them amusing, much like The Proposal.
Winners, hold tight, we’ll get you your DVDs ASAP!
