I had the honor of photographing Christina and Andy's wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, in Tarrytown, New York. When Christina and I first spoke on the phone, she and Andy had planned to "elope" in Central Park, but family members' opinions weighed in strongly, and soon a full-fledged wedding was in order.
After we spoke, Christina and I found ourselves in the same ceramics class in my neighborhood in Brooklyn - unbeknownst to either of us, we'd enrolled in the very same session - and serendipity sealed the deal! After I came on board, the plans were fleshed out: Christina and Andy's love of nature, animals, and sustainability led them to create an intimate event with their loved ones, featuring the exquisite, organic-farm-grown cuisine of Blue Hill.
Christina, being a much more skilled ceramicist than I (despite having the same teacher!), made all of her centerpieces by hand, and her florist filled them with a forest-y array of moss and greens. It rained on the day of their wedding, making the already lush background even greener under the cloudy sky.
