About Recycled Bride These creative designers used unexpected recycled materials to make unique wedding dresses!

Ever want to be a bride for Halloween? There's no reason to spend money on a costume! Phoebe Klett made her wedding dress and veil from the packaging materials of a recent furniture delivery. She stapled the garment together in the back and attached the veil with hairpins. It warms my heart to see the next generation creatively embracing recycling! Cheap-Chic-Weddings has an annual competition to see who can construct the best dress out of... toilet paper!! And no, I'm not kidding. The only thing more surprising than the TP is the fact that these gowns are truly beautiful, made by people from all over the world who want to show off their crafty skills.

Students at Sheffiled Hallam University in the UK made a biodegradable wedding dress out of polyvinyl alcohol, a substance that dissolves in water. It was part of an exhibition called A Sustainable Marriage, which was all about providing Earth-friendly alternatives to throwaway fashion. It's a sexy dress with great style, but you'd better not break a sweat on the dance floor or you'll end up in your birthday suit on your big day!

British artist Susie MacMurray created a work in the shape of a wedding dress called ”A Mixture of Frailties” out of 1400 rubber dishwashing gloves turned inside-out. "My choice of materials is a search for ways to explore the contradictions and paradoxes of human existence," says MacMurray.

Couture fashion designer Gary Harvey, the former Creative Director of Levi Strauss, creates amazing designer dresses from unexpected recycled materials. His last show at New York's Fashion Week included a gorgeous wedding dress made from the scraps of several other wedding dresses. Have any of our readers participated in Cheap-Chic-Weddings' annual TP competition? Or, are any Savvy Scoopers going eco-chic (albeit more mainstream) with their wedding dress? Dish it in the comment section below!
