Madison White and Shannon Beard chose a beautiful white gazebo in historic Winston-Salem, NC for their outdoor wedding on Oct. 17, 2009, followed by a reception at the historic Brookstown Inn. The inn was built in 1837 as a textile mill and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Their families and friends joined them for the ceremony, with fall leaves as the backdrop in the historic park. They rode in a vintage car to the inn for the celebration, where they were surrounded by their loved ones.
Fall flowers graced the tables, in pumpkins as the innovative containers suited to the season. Fall colors continued the theme, with bookmarks in the shape of leaves as the favors for guests. Madison was lovely in her simply elegant gown from English's Bridal.
The couple met at N.C. State University, and here is how Madison tells the story of their engagement: We took a hike to Rough Ridge in Boone. We packed hot chocolate (my favorite) and apple cider (his favorite) in thermoses and got to the top right at sunset. Shannon slipped the ring into the ring finger of my left glove when it was off while I drank my hot chocolate. When I put on my glove I felt the ring on the end of my finger, dropped it out into my hand and kissed him.
