About The Man Registry
Did you catch the story a few weeks back about the first wedding presided over by a robot
? Leave it to the Japanese to eliminate the human element of wedding officiating
. It’s an impressive feat; however, the robot did seem a little boring.
Given the growth of technology, we think that this robot-wedding business has lefts but could definitely be spiced up by introducing some familiar bionic faces into the mix. Here is The Man Registry
’s top five suggestions for future robot marriage Officiant:
1. R2D2 and C3PO
Here are a couple of obvious additions to the list. Everyone loves Star Wars. Even non-geeks aren’t afraid to publically claim their love for the
original trilogy. If you do happen to hire these bots to perform the wedding, just make sure there is a non-bickering clause in the contract. They’ve been known to really lose their bolts over a simple disagreement.
2. The Terminator (T-800)
We’re talking T-800 from Terminator 2
(aka the good Terminator). If you want this guy for the wedding, book EARLY. We hear he’s really busy with his current day job.
Wall-E (or Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class) might just be the perfect robot to perform your wedding. Why? He’s cute as hell and the dude knows love
And yes, after writing that above sentence, I’ll be immediately turning in my man card.
We might be stretching it a bit here, but this is our first chance ever to mention Return to Oz
in a blog... and we couldn’t pass it up. Some of you may laugh, but as a child, that movie was scarier than most of the “horror films that Hollywood puts out today. If you believe Wikipedia, Tik-Tok was the very first robot to appear in modern literature – so he definitely holds a high position in robot hierarchy and makes a worthy wedding Officiant.
What can you say about Robocop that hasn’t already been said about Jack Bauer, Chuck Norris or Jason Bourne? He’s a genuine bad-ass and one of the good guys. Plus, you’d get the added bonus of having an Officiant that doubles as wedding security. It’s a win-win situation.
Honorable mentions - Inspector Gadget, Bender, Optimus Prime, Data
