You’ve decided which members of your wolf pack will stand alongside you on your wedding day. Congrats—that’s half the battle. But how should you ask them to be part of one of the most important occasions in your life? If you want to go beyond a simple phone call or text (please, don’t), here are a few more creative ideas to consider.
Make it a memorable occasion by inviting the guys out for some manly bonding, either over a poker game, at a sporting event or concert, on a fishing or hunting trip—or at a minimum, over drinks—so you can ask them in style. Or consider presenting each groomsman with a framed old photo of the two of you or the rest of the guys having a great time with text such as “Will you be my groomsman?” or “Will you make sure I make it to my wedding?” or “Will you join my wolf pack?” inscribed on it. Do the guys typically get together to tie one on? Ask them out for drinks and give each of them a koozie that says “Will you be my groomsman (or best man)?” on it. What if all the guys are spread out across the country? Videotape yourself telling them how much you appreciate their friendship and ask them to be part of your wedding, and then send them the YouTube link.
Remember, it doesn’t have to be anything super-fancy—this isn’t your engagement proposal after all—but you can still make it a fun occasion to thank the guys for supporting you over the years and let them know you want them to be a part of your wedding.
