Groom’s Style: Suit and Sport Coat Option

Have you noticed grooms going a bit more casual lately? Though elegant, the classic tux has been traded in for a dark suit or suit/tux for many recent weddings. Defined, the classic tux jacket has a satin lapel and the corresponding pants have a stripe down the outside leg. Tux shirts are known for pleated fronts and always have cuff links. Very formal, right? But what if you've got one of those grooms who just won't get into a tux? The good news is there are some options. Option 1) Consider sporting one of the new evening suits. This is a more updated version on the classic tux. These suit/tux combos are worn with a regular shirt and tie sans the bow tie--most with a satin lapel. Option 2) Your guy might also feel more like himself in the classic-go-anywhere-dark suit, perfectly okay for a dressy wedding as long as it's not too gala. Both suits pictured here are ideal--including option 3, Keith's navy sport coat. Tip: Go with black, charcoal or navy and a solid color or very low-key tie if you want to formalize the look.
