On Shelly and Kevin's wedding day, the sun was nowhere in site. Before the wedding ceremony, it started raining... then pouring... but this did not put a damper on the couple's incredible day! It made my job as their wedding photographer a bit more challenging (mud and heels do not mix, ladies), but everything went swimmingly in the end.
They had a backyard ceremony at Kevin's grandparent’s quirky little cottage. And luckily, someone had anticipated the rain, and large tents were erected in the backyard. The wedding guests arrived with a brilliant array of umbrellas, which made for some unique photography. Ironically, Kevin and Shelly were the only ones (aside from the wedding officiant, Bryn and I) without shelter. Poor Shelly was shivering, but as her goosebumps grew so did her smile. These kids were having the time of their life. The rain may have made their wedding day even more magical.
I read a quote once by a wedding photographer, which was her response to a disgruntled bride on her rainy wedding day: “Rain on your wedding day is a beautiful thing. Everytime it rains now, you will be reminded of how you felt today.” Now that is a beautiful thing!
