Alexander McQueen Spring 2012: Sea-Inspired Dresses

Posted by Azure on October 5th, 2011
Get ready to swoon because Sarah Burton, Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress designer, knocked it out of the park with her Spring 2012 collection for Alexander McQueen.

Opulent, out-of-this-world details (think cascading ruffles, teeny tiny pleats, beading encrustations) did the late designer proud in this collection inspired by the Greek Goddess, Gaia. A fantasy underwater world played out on the catwalk, complete with visions of coral, sea anemones, silvery mother-of-pearl, and bone-white seashell. Even the shoes were adorned with aquatic touches.

Metallics, waist-cinching belts & corsets, and girly peplums (all on-trend for 2011-2012 weddings) also made an appearance down McQueen's Spring 2012 runway. And the frothy mini dresses with loads of texture and interesting necklines would be perfect for a whimsical bride's wedding reception look! Aren't these dresses inspiring? Which confections do you love?
