Get ready to swoon because Sarah Burton, Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress designer, knocked it out of the park with her Spring 2012 collection for Alexander McQueen.
Opulent, out-of-this-world details (think cascading ruffles, teeny tiny pleats, beading encrustations) did the late designer proud in this collection inspired by the Greek Goddess, Gaia. A fantasy underwater world played out on the catwalk, complete with visions of coral, sea anemones, silvery mother-of-pearl, and bone-white seashell. Even the shoes were adorned with aquatic touches.
Metallics, waist-cinching belts & corsets, and girly peplums (all on-trend for 2011-2012 weddings) also made an appearance down McQueen's Spring 2012 runway. And the frothy mini dresses with loads of texture and interesting necklines would be perfect for a whimsical bride's wedding reception look!
Aren't these dresses inspiring? Which confections do you love?
