About Always A Blogsmaid
Now that the spring is here, wedding season has truly begun. A little prep and organization the week before the wedding can make a world of difference on the wedding day.
I thought I'd pass on some of the tips that I share with my brides to keep their wedding days running as smooth as silk.
1) Befriend Excel or whatever software
that you need to keep your guest list and table assignments sortable alphabetically by last name AND by table. Give this to your maitre' d or day-of coordinator (DOC) in case there are guests who can't find their escort cards, aren't sure where they are sitting AND so they can double check the number of guests at each table.
2) Decide in advance where your gift envelopes
are going to go and who will be responsible for keeping an eye on them and taking them at the end of the night. TIP
: This is a job that Dad usually loves!
3) Alphabetize your escort cards
. This seems really simple, but a lot of times people keep the cards organized in table order, which is great. Only your guests don't know what their table is, so the alphabetical order makes a big difference.
4) Don't decide that night who’s making toasts
. Designate toast makers before the wedding and let your MC know who they are and what tables they'll be sitting at.
5) Pack it up on Tuesday
! Tuesday should be your target day to have everything wrapped up. Seating charts, escort cards, favors
tied, programs collated, AND, most importantly, all of your final payments and gratuities withdrawn from the bank and put into envelopes labeled with your vendors names. If you can, drop off your favors, escort cards, unity candles, ring pillows, cake knife etc, with your DOC or venue
. Let the last few days of the week not be spent running to banks and stressing out about deadlines
