4 DIYs to Make You Fall For Fall Weddings

Posted by Faye on October 16th, 2012

I love Fall! You love Fall! Everyone loves Fall! With the exception of a few grumpy students... I’ve never met anyone who isn’t enamored with the season's amazing colors, pumpkin flavored everything, cool nights, crisp sunny days, and crunchy leaves decorating the sidewalks. To get you fully in the fall spirit, I’ve rounded up several fantastic DIYs for autumn. You’ll love them for your wedding day or seasonal home décor.

The first DIY features the season’s biggest star, pumpkins! Our orange friend is painted and then featured front and center in a simple, chic, and versalite manner. My favorite is the pumpkin flower vase, perfect for Fall bouquets.

Pro-tips: Use hardware store paint chip palettes as your shade guide and get a stylish contrast by picking colors a few shades apart. Glossy paints are showier, while matte finish paints have a contemporary feel. Don’t be afraid to incorporate both! If you want to try the plaid pumpkin don’t use masking tape for guidelines as it will tear off the base paint, just do your best by hand. Save money by buying tester size paints, after all pumpkins aren’t that big!

Our second DIY is for brides who love the season, but fancy brighter and bolder colors. If this sounds like you, then you’ll swoon for this brightly colored ombre and geometrical patterned pumpkin DIY.

Next up we’re featuring Fall’s most unique aspect, the changing leaves (plus a little bit of glitter). Spend a day with your honey collecting Fall leaves, then use this easy-as-pumpkin-pie tutorial to jazz up your leaves with just a touch of glitter. They can be used as simple decorations, guest cards, table numbers, and more.

Last but not least I’ve got one for you pro-crafters, pine cone picture frames. This DIY might take some prior know-how as it came directly from the craft master herself, Martha Stewart. But, its rustic elegance and versatility make it worth trying. Frame up family photos, table numbers, or pictures of you and your soon-to-be for gorgeous rustic reception decoration.
