5 Trends Beloved by Bride Chic in 2013

Posted by Bride Chic on January 3rd, 2014

2013 bridal fashion proved to be anything but boring, and I'm excited to share with you my 5 favorite fashion trends from this last year. The release of The Great Gatsby in May and the ongoing Downton Abbey series inspired designers to craft gowns in the spirit of the early 20th Century. Also on the vintage front, mash-ups of bygone eras continued in the on-trend combination of accessories from different decades culminating in an overall bridal look. Modern and naturally unconventional brides applauded the dress sporting color and/or print whether in just a hint of blue, or a bold, shocking row of stripes. And kudos to all those indie designers out there; true artists creating what's in their heart and soul and paving the road for fashion in the teens. Explore my top 5 trends from 2013 below and Ideabook your favorites!

#1. The Great Gatsby and Downton Abbey Influence:

#2. Dresses in Color and Prints:

#3. The Peplum: Defined, a peplum is like a micro mini over-skirt. It hit it's zenith circa the1940s and if you catch an old Film Noir, chances are you'll find a dress with a peplum. The beauty of wearing one is it adds drama to your look and can be attached to a slim sheath as well as a fuller ball gown silhouette.

#4. Back Chic: Since your guests will get a good glimpse of your back while you're taking vows, designers love to zone-in on details that can be as simple as a row of buttons or as elaborate as sweeps of bustle and train. 2013 ushered in many gowns that were intricately beaded and laced.

#5. Indie Designers: They continue to inspire and WOW us.  Where would we be without them?
