Last week I posted about ditching the bridal bouquet toss. So it should come as no surprise when I tell you to DITCH the garter toss, too!
When someone says “garter toss”, I think yuck. Or maybe it’s gross. I mean, come ON! Do you really want to sit there while all your wedding guests watch your husband creep up your gown to remove your garter (possibly with his teeth)? YUCK. This is definitely a wedding tradition to, well, toss.
Now, that doesn't mean you can’t wear a garter. Wear it, have your wedding photographer capture it, and then let your husband take it off, in the privacy of your home or hotel room! You can make your garter your something blue (which I did), personalize or customize it, or choose a really delicate feminine one. You can also keep it as a family heirloom, and pass it down to your daughter (or son’s future wife) someday.
I’d love to hear from people who don’t agree with this, because I honestly cannot think of a single reason to keep the garter toss. Agree or disagree? Because even though I’m right, we can agree to disagree ☺
