Considering having a couples shower or looking for ways to interest guys in a wedding shower? While it may seem like a tough sell for some guys, there are lots of great shower ideas that cater to both sexes. Here are a few guy-friendly shower ideas:

Lawn/garden and BBQ shower. Perfect for a spring or summer shower, this shower lends itself well to a backyard grill-out setting where guests can play yard games such as horseshoes, washers, and lawn darts and bring gifts such as grill tools and accessories, lawn and gardening tools, and other outdoor entertaining items.

Honeymoon shower. After a certain point during the wedding planning process, the bride and groom may start to feel like the honeymoon can’t come fast enough. Host a honeymoon-themed shower where the décor and food/drinks can reflect the honeymoon destination and guests can bring gifts that can be used on the trip. For a Hawaiian-themed shower, for example, consider offering a pig roast or BBQ fare and tropical drinks served in coconut shells. Guests could go in on a new camera, video recorder, luggage, or excursions for the couple.

Stock the bar shower. For couples who like to kick back with cocktails and/or entertain, think about a bar shower where you can serve creative signature drinks and appetizers and guests can bring gifts such as barware and accessories, serveware, wine refrigerators, galvanized drink tubs, and alcohol (such as a nice bottle of wine or scotch).

Home improvement shower. What guy couldn’t use more tools? With this shower, guests can bring gifts of power tools, hand tools, ladders, tool boxes, a work bench, etc. — perfect for couples who just bought a fixer-upper or who plan to add on a deck or finish a basement. These gifts will also come in handy for knocking out items on that growing honey-do list.

This is just a sampling of some guy-friendly shower concepts. Hopefully this list will give you some ideas to plan your own unique couples shower. Whatever you decide, try to include something that will interest the groom as well as the bride to create a successful couples shower.
