NYC Bridal Market Trends for 2015

by Bride Chic

Now that the top designers have shown their stuff at NYC Bridal Market, what's the news for Spring 2015? I have to admit there are a few surprises. While not rampant down the runways, I particularly love the minimalist styles appearing for 2015. These designs feature pared down silhouettes like the sheath and slip dress in pure, luxe, and even shiny fabrics. The Great Gatsby-inspired embellishments aren't dissappearing however, and Grecian/Diva dresses with draped, billowing...

The Best of NY Bridal Markets, Spring / Summer 2014

by Azure

If you just happen to be wondering what I'm seeing that's good out at market this year--here's where my eyeballs landed. For me, there's one word to describe spring/summer 2014: 'easy going'. Designers are finally getting away from dresses that have everything including the kitchen sink thrown in--ruffles, lacey boned bodices with more ruffles and huge trains following. I'm looking at 2014 and seeing dresses by Vera Wang, Carolina Hererra and Romona Keveza that seem organic--as if...

Spring 2014 Bridal: Smoldering Sensuality from Reem Acra

by Azure

Where do I even begin with Reem Acra's drop dead gorgeous Spring 2014 bridal collection... I sat front row at the runway show (rubbing elbows with Preston Bailey, Randy Fenoli, Sylvia Weinstock, and many more), and had SYPhotography there to capture it all! Doing market as a bride-to-be was definitely a tease, and no designer gave me that loving feeling quite like Reem Acra did. The theme for this collection was "Thank you for your love" and beyond the beautiful dresses, the...

Backstage at Oscar de la Renta

by Brooklyn Bride

Yesterday was the Oscar de la Renta show, and I was so excited to be one of the bloggers invited early to shoot backstage. I've been backstage before to other shows, but it's always been a quick in and out sort of experience amidst all the craziness. This time, we were allowed access to everything, from the rehearsal to make up and hair, and the one thing that struck me was how calm it was!  Hope you enjoy a sneak peek behind the scenes at Oscar de la Renta!

Fall 2013 Bridal: Douglas Hannant Takes Floral Embroidery to the Edge

by Azure

Wedding dresses with romantic floral appliques, embroideries, and embellishments are definitely on-trend for 2013. In fact, I can't think of a single designer collection unveiled during New York bridal market that didn't include a bloom-adorned number or two. Such a pretty trend! But Douglas Hannant went off the beaten path with a totally new take on florals for Fall 2013, and the stunner above is a perfect example. Doing romantic floral embellishments in non-romantic colors was a...
