Featured Wedding: A Very Small Guest List

by Azure

Special feature by Molly Marie Photography Julie & Jake opted to rent a country house in Oregon, WI. They shared their wedding day with a total of 13 people, including his sister who acted as the officiant. I felt very special being one of only two paid vendors. Since the wedding was so small, I really felt like I had the chance to get to know the couple and their guests, and I hope that shows in the photographs.

Inspiration for Your Wedding Menu

by Azure

Happy Monday! Last month the New York Times did an interesting article on how a lot of people, especially in California, are trying to make their weddings look less expensive than they actually are. I had to laugh about people spending money to make it look like they weren’t spending money, because looking like you have money is out of fashion. To me it's sort of like spending extra money for distressed furniture or jeans. But, my favorite part of the article was an interactive...

Weddings occur on every weekend of every year, no matter what the stock market says. Here are some ideas to get you through wedding season without having to search for a bailout plan: 1. Borrow a dress from a friend. No cost, except it would be nice to dry clean it afterwards. 2. Chip in together with your friends for bridal shower gifts - get lingerie (maybe...

Bride Chic: Bridal Fashion and Wedding Dresses- Everything Old Is New Again

by Azure

About Bride Chic One of my newest acquisitions is a copy of Bride's Magazine dating back to Fall/Winter 1939. I picked it up downtown in an antique store. Vintageholic that I am, you can imagine how much inspiration I've picked up studying each page with all the concentration of a scholar. Fashion-wise, 1939 was an interesting year.Gone With the Wind, just released, had incredible influence on evening and bridal with stores rolling out antebellum silhouettes in yards of taffeta and...

A Destination Wedding for the Adventurous

by Azure

Here's something to think about over the weekend. Pro Dive International in Florida is getting ready to offer an unusual destination wedding site… underwater! The shop is currently recruiting clergy members of different persuasions to perform the weddings. Wedding packages will start at about $1,500, and for Jewish weddings, they've even found a way to let you break the glass. I gotta say, getting married underwater would certainly cut down the guest list!

The Man Registry: Manscaping 101

by Azure

About The Man Registry For grooms wanting to do a little extra grooming and look their best on the wedding day, a new term has evolved: manscaping. Yes, you read that right: manscaping. Love was in the air for this notoriously private actor, and true to form, the celebration was small and intimate, with a guest list of just 30 friends and family. Wedding Cake Traditions, a Little History

by Azure

One of the things that makes planning a wedding so challenging is that people like to tell you that either you can’t, or must, do something because “it’s tradition.” What’s so interesting about this is that most of us actually know very little about the wedding traditions to which we’re so attached. For example, did you know that wedding cake was traditionally a meat dish, and not a very tasty sounding one. Lamb testicles anyone? It wasn’t until the 1500s, when sugar...
