Most brides don't expect to wear a surgical mask and latex gloves on their big day - but if you're suffering from swine flu, there's really no choice.

One Chicago bride and groom decided they wouldn't let a diagnosis of the dreaded H1N1 virus interfere with their wedding planning and managed to tie the knot anyway, the Chicago Tribune reports.

A few days before their wedding, both Jeremy Fierstien and Ilana Jackson were suffering from vomiting and fever, but they hadn't seriously considered swine flu a possibility.

"We joked about it," Jackson told the newspaper. But reality hit home when they received the bad news less than 48 hours before the ceremony, throwing all of their careful wedding planning into jeopardy.

However, after the couple's doctor assured them they didn't pose a significant danger to their guests, they decided to forge ahead.

Some last-minute tweaks to their original ideas included buying masks and gloves to wear during the ceremony and determining how to stay at least 10 feet away from guests at all times.

But hey - at least the white surgical masks matched the wedding dress!
