For most brides, picking out a beautiful wedding gown is a highlight of the wedding planning - and some even help design a custom-made creation.

Angela Weaser of Blomington, Illinois, took this process one step further. Not only did she choose her dream dress, but she created it herself using more than four miles of yarn, the Pantagraph reports.

That's right - Weaser knitted herself a silk corset top, silk wrap and mohair skirt to wear during her trip down the aisle to wed fiancé Dan Yandel.

The bride told the newspaper the wedding guests were relieved to see that the wedding dress outfit - which took 400 hours to make - still managed to look traditional.

"I think they were expecting an argyle sweater or something," she said. Weaser began her knitting project in April 2008 with the top and made the last of more than 314,000 stitches for the skirt on May 15 - the night before the wedding.

Luckily, her friends at the local yarn shop were willing to lend a hand as the big day neared, donating their knitting skills while Weaser was at work to help make sure the outfit was completed.
