Couple take to the road for a budget wedding

A San Francisco couple is redefining the idea of a destination wedding by taking a pre-nuptial trip across the country to celebrate their union with friends in far-flung places.

Initially, when Jaime Case and Chris Hodges were wedding planning, they decided that it wouldn't be fair to ask their 100 closest friends and family to spend a lot of money to attend their big day.

Instead, they decided to hit the road for six weeks to visit more than 200 people they care about, and then have a small and simple ceremony back home afterwards.

Jaime told the New Jersey Star-Ledger that the entire trip is costing them approximately $2,000 through paying for gas and a few nights in hotels.

Ford donated a Fusion for them to drive and is also paying for car insurance, while their friends and family are feeding them when they arrive at each destination.

The main idea, she explained is to help her guests save money. "It would cost our 200 friends in other states about $20,000 to come visit us," she told the news provider.

Another benefit is the chance to spend quality one-on-one time with people, more than "at a standard wedding," she added.
