If you've seen the French movie Amelie, you know all about the organic goodness this delightful flick delivers. And since Amelie happens to be The Emerics favorite movie of all time (lucky us!), they set out to create an intimate wedding shoot inspired by Amelie. Here's what the photographer had to say...
I began to seek out the organic elements of the movie, as well as our favorite quotes to help us set the scene for a small, intimate courtyard wedding. The movie has a very specific color palette of greens and reds, so we stuck with those hues throughout the design. The narrator describes Amelie early in the movie as someone who enjoyed "life's small pleasures : immersing one's hand in a sack of grain, cracking the crust of a crème brulée with the back of a teaspoon or skipping stones on the Canal St-Martin."
We incorporated the use of artichokes in the floral and decor based on the line in the movie, "...even artichokes have hearts." The suitcase and gnome reference the part of the movie where Amelie is trying to convince her father to travel and see the world. We decided on small plants as wedding favors, as Amelie had potted plants along the windowsill of her apartment, so we thought it would flow nicely with the organic vibe. And just to pay further homage to the movie itself, we chose a few of our favorite quotes and hung them alongside the escort cards. A lot of the pieces were thrift store finds we refurbished ourselves.
There were tons of DIY elements throughout the decor, including the escort cards, place cards, and quote cards that we designed and printed ourselves.
