How we got engaged

The day was April 7, 2009 and it was a normal day, kinda. I went to work at about 8am that day and worked until 445. A few days prior, my friend Jeff had asked me to come to a Tides game with him. Kaitlin was supposed to work that night so I told Jeff that I would go. Kaitlin decided to stay home from work that night and assumed that I was going to cancel my plans with Jeff. I told Kaitlin that I was still going to go to the game, but I would come home early and spend time with her...I just didn't want to bail on Jeff. So I left for the Tides game, or so she thought...At that point I went to pick up Kaitlin's engagement ring. Kaitlin was so mad at me for not staying home with her, she went to her parent's house, which was all part of my plan. I finally got the ring at about 830 that night, a little later then I had wanted. I then drove as fast as I could to Kaitlin's parent's. Kaitlin's mom and sister were my partner's in crime and did everything they could to keep Kaitlin at their house until I could get over there. I then got to their house and snuck in the front door and waited in the Living Room. Kaitlin then came in their with a little help from her mom. Once she saw me she started smiling, but I knew she was still mad. I grabbed her and put her arms around my neck and told her how much I loved her and how I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I was so nervous that I started to shake and thats when Kaitlin knew something was up. I told her that there was something I wanted to ask her and since her parent's house was the first place we actually met, I felt that was the best place to do it. I then stepped back, got down on my knee, took out the ring and asked Kaitlin "will you marry me?" She got somewhat emotional :) and said "of course."
