How it all happened March 28th, 2009

YAY! Well, as most as you know by now, Emmanuel and I are ENGAGED! woo hoo!
So heres the story for all of you so I don't have to type it over and over XP. enjoy!

Well, it was our 1 year aniversary. March 28th, 2009. A Saturday.
He sent me on a scavenger hunt all morning.

-He set up his ipod and ihome to wake me up to the song
"Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service, where there was a painting of a banner that said "His banner over me : LOVE" with the scripture ref. below. Then there was an envelope with Clue #1.

-It led me to the bathroom where he decorated my whole mirror with a bunch of cool paper cut out in to swirly designs and stars and hearts and birds and everything...where on the counter there was a new pair of Convers, (with custom art on them by him), 2 red roses,
and Clue #2.

It told me I was pure beauty to behold, and that even though he thinks Im beautiful without makeup, he knows I like to do my makeup, so I should take my time, get ready, and enjoy a bowl of fruit that he got me for breakfast: strawberries, mango, kiwi, grapes, cantalope, and honeydew melons. Song to listen to> MAE> "Soundtrack for Our Movie".
(and again, in my car, 2 roses on my seat!)

-11 o'clock was my next appointment: Safeway.
I got ready and wondered what to expect.
When I pulled into the parking lot, I saw my friend Anna, holding a big
bundle of balloons of pink and black, which she let float away into the sunny sky. then handed me a picture frame of Emmanuel and I, and 2 red roses. The next clue was hidden in the back of the picture frame; Clue #3, instructing me to go to the place we first met: Calvary Chapel Kauai. Song to listen to: > Phil Wickham > "Devine Romance"

So I get to the church, and Andrew is standing on the stage, with a camera at hand, and beside him is a stool, with another bunch of black and pink balloons tide to it, a brand new leather Bible, and Clue # 4. Inside were a list of Bible scriptures for me to look up; all relating to marriage, and stories of marriage....hmmm, getting a little suspicious now...haha..

It directed to back to my car, where Clue #5 was hidden in my visor. "Turn on the radio to station 90.0" I turn it on....and the line from the song "Such Great Heights", "I tired my best to leave, this all on your machine..." is playing over and over...my next clue, Clue #6 is hidden under my seat. "Im to wait for a message on my phone for my next clue and directions.
So I wait. Bzzz. Bzzz. Vmail. It says to take a ride to Lihue. My destination: The Freire house.
Song to listen to> The Beatles> Rubber Soul > Drive my Car. (awesome =] )

So I'm in traffic, bumper to bumper traffic..and then I decide to stop for gas, almost get run over by a crazy speeding moke chick, and then fill up. Geez lady...Ok, back on track, and traffic is smooth now. I make it to my destination, and Emmanuel is there with ANOTHER bunch of pink and black balloons, a GoRgEoUs bouquet of red roses, and a camera round the neck to snap pictures of me.

We said our greetings, hugged and everything =], then decided to stop by Deli and Bread for lunch. After that, he started driving me out to the south side. About mid way to our destination, he asked me to wear a blindfold, (aka, his jacket over my head, lol)
and we continued, and soon after made our stop, and it WAS a surprise; A helicopter tour all over the island! Wee! Not only a helicopter tour, but an OPEN DOOR tour! crazy! So we get there and get our gear, watch the cheesy safety video, get strapped in, and WERE OFF!

We traveled from Port Allen, around by Kokee, through Waimea Cannon, past PoliHale,
around by Kalalau, out over the ocean by a baby whale and his mommy!, Ke'e beach, Hanalei, Kilauea, Kapaa, Wailua, and back towards Lihue over a bunch of mountains and fields...We even flew strait up to Mt. Waialeale! It was amazing to see Kauai for the first time like that, where you can see everything that you've known growing up, but all connected, and to see really how small this island is! =] It was a blessing, and though it was a little scary at times, I had a blast!!!

Then, right when we were coming back around near Port Allen, we stopped for a break by a private waterfall. We walked over to our waterfall picnic spot, but Emmanuel said he forgot something in the helicopter. (which...he didn't) He returned with ANOTHER bouquet of red roses, and then gave me the roses. He then started telling me about how blessed he is to know me and have me, and how he's been thinking about something.
He started to explain, and then paused with a frozen face, and quickly stammered, "Umm, well, I...I had a whole speech planned out and everything, but now, I can't remember what I was going to say...but Alyssa", (as he got down on one knee) "Will you be my wife?"
"Yes yes, I will, yes!" ^-^ was my jumbled reply X]
And we talked and cuddled and all that, and I just smiled in unbelief. haha.
We then walked over to the picnic table where the other 2 passengers were sitting eating.
(A couple who was on their 30th anniversary!) and chatted with them, and listened to what they had to say, sharing their "30 years of marriage knowledge" with us.

When we finally landed back in Port Allen, we bought some shirts, shared with the girls back at the office a good look at the rock, and then hurried home to get ready for dinner.

We rushed over to the marriott, where my dad is good friends with the sushi chef there.
We at sooo much amazing sushi, and even got REAL wassabi root. (the $70 kind)
and he hooked us up for the whole meal (other than the 2 drinks and mochi ice cream)

We headed home, where Emmanuel talked with me awhile in his car, and then brought out sparkling cider, and yet ANOTHER bouquet of amazing red roses.

We ended the night cruzing with mi familia, and then some prayer together, and good night new fiancee. I slept well that night =]

Well, thats my story guys! God bless, (soon to be) Alyssa Rodriguez ^-^
