Put a ring on it!
by Jlyn927

Well since I am generally very astute and things don't slip past me very easily, Greg had his work cut out for him to surprise me.
He and his parents worked on the engagement for weeks and weeks in secret. Going ring shopping when I was in class or at the gym. Sending all the mail for the ring to Greg's parents. They were good.
The weekend of March 21st was the weekend friends from DC were coming in to visit to plan our California trip in May. They brought Greg's brother Dave with them and had pretended for weeks they didn't know if Dave would make it. Then some friends of ours pretended they wanted to see Dave so they all said they were going to come out with us Saturday night, March 21st. We had already planned to go to Bossa Nova in Pittsburgh with our parents, friends and my mom and dad. Nothing out of the norm.
Alyson tricked me by saying she wanted to get manicures and didn't get girl time in DC so she wanted to do it in Pittsburgh with me, knowing she wanted my nails to look good in pictures. All these things were going on right under my nose and I was OBLIVIOUS.
Well at Bossa Nova everyone is there having a good time and I had my antennas up. I felt like SOMETHING was up that all these people were there that were never normally out, but I just ignored it.
Then Beyonce's "Single Lady" played and that was the signal. All of our friends/family had cameras ready and were looking at me as our waitress, Crystal, brought over a gift bag and shoved it at me telling me, "This is for you." I was like, "what? why?!" and She said, 'JUST OPEN IT.' and walked away. I thought for a brief moment Greg told them I got A's on my midterms so they bought me a gift to be nice.
Then I realized all eyes were on me. I reached into the bag thinking there was a little black box inside, but felt a picture frame instead. So I was a bit confused.
Then I pulled it out and ripped the gift open and it was a picture of Greg holding a sign saying, "Jamey will you marry me?" And I spun around to see Greg standing behind me with a little black box in his hands. He got down on his knee and didn't say anything but smiled at me. His hands were trembling and I could hear his stomach turning, and said "OMG why are you so nervous? YES OF COURSE!" and then we kissed and he had our song, "Magic," by Colbie Caillat played and we danced.
Then our friends and family partied and it was a fantastic time!! So awesome!
