Ray's on the River

by TabbyBride2Be

Anybody who knows David Snow, knew he wasn't the type to even think about the idea of Marriage. I knew David was the One early on in the relationship. He on the other hand would not want to discuss the topic. I love David very much and was ready to accept the fact that we may not ever get married. But, while in basic training I got a letter from him saying he's been thinking about us and our future. Then I got another letter informing me that I'll like my surprise he wants to get me.

I didn't want to jump to conclusions but I knew what my surprise was going to be. I "guessed" what it was in the return letter back to him and he said I was correct, it was a ring. I talked to him a lot before I left Fort Jackson and he at the time was shopping around, looking for the ring he wanted to get me. Every time I got the chance to speak with him on the phone, with my short 6 minutes, we talked about it and I couldn't believe he was actually serious. After all this time, he finally was comfortable and favored the idea of marrying me.

Well, a miracle happened and I got to come back home on 30 days leave. He took me to the Jewelery store and I got to pick out the ring. Now, it was a matter of when he was going to pop the question. He called his brother one week to call ahead making reservations for dinner. I was a little upset because on April 17th was my graduation from basic training. David took me out to this nice restaurant in Atlanta. When I mean nice, I'm talking nice. It was called Ray's On The River.

The food was delicious! The chef made us a complimentary plate of Calamari, and I felt very very special. David was nervous through out dinner. After desert he got down on one knee in front of everyone and asked me to marry him. I was excited and couldn't stop smiling. I said yes! The waiter brought us Champagne and the people around us told us Congratulations! An older gentlemen in his late 60's came up and shook David's hand. He said in all his life he's never seen that happen and that he was celebrating his 16th Anniversary with his Wife.

And from that point on I get to look down at my left hand, smiling.
