Love at First Sight
by jaime.killough

Neither of us would actually call it "love at first sight", but we've not really spent a day apart since we met. A friend at my workplace and someone Jason plays cards with introduced us to one another at a local high school basketball game. That was January 11th. After that we chatted on the phone for hours about nothing, met several times in my hometown or his, and were practically attached at the hip. Everything moved really fast!
After meeting the families and friends, we talked about marriage, but nothing too serious. Finally, after spending a week in Florida with my mom and cousin, and another week in Louisville visiting family, he popped the question.
He came to my apartment wearing the same clothes from the night before. He said he hadn't slept a wink and then got down on his knees.
At first I didn't know what was going on. But then he finally pulled a ring box from his pocket. The rest is a blur. We spent the rest of day telling our families and friends the big news.
We arrived at my parents' home, I discovered that he had already been there that morning. He wanted to ask my parents for their permission - I thought my dad was going to cry. My mom on the other hand, told everyone about our engagement before I could. Our parents were shocked but thrilled. Everyone said they knew it was just a matter of time.
