Jamie made sure every detail WE wanted, was present, and she even added some of her own! A few examples: When she realized we hadn't thought about decorating the cocktail tables, she brought in her own votive candles. We'd brought small glass stones to scatter on the reception tables, and had quite a lot leftover. Jamie used those to spruce up the placecard table and head table at the reception.) When the bouquets had been delivered (in vases) the day of, and I realized the girls and I didn't have anywhere to display them at the reception, Jamie was three steps ahead of us, and had the vases waiting on the head table. At the end of the night, she was still looking after us: made sure my hubby and I had the key to our room, rescued my purse that had been left with my aunt, and boxed all our wedding décor and brought it to my mom’s hotel room. Her attention to detail and extreme organization really lent us peace of mind!
Jamie and I met several times, and stayed in touch via Facebook. She took down contact info for my vendors, myself and my husband and both families (just in case). As I mentioned, she offered some of her own materials to help us "finish" the look we wanted for the reception. Thanks to her quick thinking, our reception had elegance, and a little something extra. Everything meshed together wonderfully.
Jamie was a sounding board for me during the last few months of my planning. I was very concerned that everything would happen perfectly, and she listened to all my neurotic questions. Then she let me know how she interpreted what I said, and helped me fill in any gaps. She also asked all kinds of questions about the day: how we wanted everything placed and decorated, what our timeline looked like, and how we were planning to get everything to the venue the night before. Basically, Jamie swooped in and rescued me from myself, especially in those last few weeks.
I'd recommend a DOC to other brides for sure! Having someone to take over all the little things at your wedding, so you can just be newlyweds, is truly priceless. My hubby and I didn't plan to have a DOC at first, but since I am a detailed person, I worried about the "little things" (like transport for all the decor, and how we'd make sure we got all our stuff back afterwards) from the beginning. We hired Jamie and Simply Splendid so we could cross the worrying off our to-do list, and that was one of the best decisions we made.
