I'd been wanting to work with Bay Area wedding photographer Chyna Darner for some time after stumbling across one of her stylized shoots on Wedding Chicks. For me, her work is simply off the charts gorgeous! Winter 2012 we finally connected, hooking up and mixing with some of the best wedding professionals in San Francisco Bay Area.
The result: We formulated a concept around my 1950's wedding dresses shot against a mansion backdrop. Says Chyna: "Once Amy-Jo was on board with the shoot we started looking for a venue that matched her designs. We were ecstatic when we heard back from Monica Hobbs from The Nimitz Mansion on Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco. The mansion was a perfect fit!"
The Nimitz Mansion was built in the early 1900's as a Naval Officer's residence. This tour de force of classic revival overlooks the San Francisco Bay with views that are are in a word-- spectacular! This turned out to be the ideal background for florals and table design with that vintage feel. Says Chyna: "The tables were done by Miranda from Divine Events, the main table set with authentic vintage china from the mansion and silk antique gold napkins. The centerpiece was tall with smaller, complimentary arrangements in mercury glass vases; the banquet chairs were tied with a multi-dimensional pink-gold sash arranged in a rosette and tail knot."
The touch I personally loved in this quaint and majestic setting is the old oak tree adorned with various sized paper lanterns in cream and soft yellows with long tails of pink ribbon... stunning!
