During my first trip to Men's Wearhouse recently, I came face to face with a full-blown Converse/Chuck Taylors display front and center where grooms, groomsmen and anyone renting a tux go to sign up and get fitted. And I didn't like it.
Now, I don't have anything against Converse shoes (I actually own a few pairs), but I'm so ready to say goodbye to the grooms wearing Chuck Taylors trend. To me, it's as played out as cupcake trees and Tiffany blue + chocolate brown. So all I could think after seeing the Men's Wearhouse display was... Why are you encouraging them?! Them being grooms and groomsmen.
So I went on the hunt for the perfect replacement shoe. Something a little bit sporty, unique, fresh and fun. It had to be comfortable, and white aisle worthy too. And I found it!
Enter, the LunarGrand Wingtip shoe from Cole Haan and Nike. The LunarGrand Wingtip comes in leather and suede, in a variety of classic colors (navy, black, charcoal, chestnut, milkshake, etc.). But it's the ribbed Nike sole that makes this shoe stand out (and stand for comfort), and the color choices here are fabulous too! Ivory for the traditional groom, hot pink or yellow for the more daring groom.
These babies have been selling like hotcakes since debuting in February; there's even a 10 pair limit on every online order. At $248 a pop, the LunarGrand Wingtip isn't exactly budget friendly. But I think it's well worth the splurge for your handsome soon-to-be!
How do you like? Do you find this shoe splurge-worthy? And, are you over the Converse trend too? Tell us what you think!
