Real Wedding Inspiration: Art Deco Glam Goes Into the Wild

I was over the moon when California wedding dress designer Cocoe Voci sent me this ridiculously adorable LA wedding captured by Miha Matei Photography.

The beautiful couple, Allis and Dave, really went above and beyond to infuse their personalities into the wedding, and let their creativity and craftiness lead the way.

The Natural History Museum in Los Angeles (where the bride also works) served as the ceremony and reception venue, and also inspired the couple's overall wedding theme (dubbed "Art Deco meets Natural History" by the bride). Even the bride's shoes, daring leopard pumps by Ivanka Trump, and fur and feather accessories, reflected the natural, outdoorsy vibe.

The vows went down in the beautiful Rotunda area of the museum, and for the reception, guests headed to the African Mammals Hall, all decked out with natural wood, lace and burlap, and retro table accents. The couple DIY'd rustic wood platters using trees fallen during a big storm, as well as a "three layer cake" stand to showcase a variety of quirky cake pops.

Here's a bit more from the lovely and talented bride...

What was your favorite part or things about your wedding? Creating a space together to bring everyone we love into for this wonderful occasion. Every detail was done together. This wasn't some wedding where the bride does it all and the groom showed up, this was truly a collaboration-- as our relationship is. It was really the journey of getting there that was fun. I don't think many people enjoy the process of planning a wedding, but we really did. And that took away any stress there could have been.

Any regrets? In retrospect, was there anything you would have done differently? I would have extended the wedding by another hour for sure. We just got to really getting down on the dance floor when it all came to a close. But, maybe that's just because we were having so much fun.

Anything else you would like to add? Dave, the groom, created the unique wedding invitations by painting a large oil portrait of us. He photographed it, put it on wood cards and even did the calligraphy himself-- I guess all those years at summer camp finally paid off! Now the painting is hanging in our living room and reminds of our special day.
