Looking for a wedding theme that packs a major punch, with plenty of retro goodness to go around? Then consider planning a wedding inspired by Pop art (a la Andy Warhol & Roy Lichtenstein)! I attended a Roy Lichtenstein exhibit at the Art Institute this weekend, and couldn't stop the wedding inspiration wheels from turning!
Polka dot prints and patterns (paying homage to the Benday Dot Technique Lichtenstein made famous), bold primary colors with pops of black and white, an art gallery venue, and comic book graphics all came to mind. I envision a retro bride with red lips, a tea-length wedding dress, and a vintage-inspired hairstyle topped off with a birdcage veil, and a groom in a smartly tailored black suit, white shirt, and a skinny black necktie (possibly with funky socks or cuff links). You could really go crazy with the wedding reception photo booth props, and get guests excited early with a Pop art-esque wedding save-the-date.
