Spring is here and David's Bridal has welcomed Melissa Sweet and her absolutely gorgeous confections in silks and lace into the David's fold of big name designers. I have to say brides have definitely missed Melissa since she left Priscilla of Boston!
Last month I had a client in my studio with a clipping of a Melissa Sweet wedding dress wanting to get a look at it in person so she could see the fabric (no luck). Now that Melissa's finally back on the scene, she's creating pieces for David's inspired by brides with a romantic as well as contemporary fashion sense and appreciation for the craftsmanship of yesteryear. She's always had a knack of dreaming up vintage-inspired pieces for brides who wear them with a certain pizazz...
Her collection combines a bit of edge with extraordinary retro detailing like cascading laces, ribbon trims, and intricately hand-sewn beading. Her gowns are polished yet pretty, fluid and captivating…the perfect gown for the new age romantic.
Says Sweet about this premiere collection: “I look forward to bringing Melissa Sweet designs to an entirely new segment of brides. The first collection is a beautiful expression that speaks to the bride who loves vintage dressing and wants a little something different than the traditional glitz and glam.”
