5 Bridal Trends We Loved in 2012

Posted by Bride Chic on December 21st, 2012

If you're wondering where the next installment of Time Traveling Bride went, we'll have Bouffant to Mod: The 1960's Bride coming up next Friday. Meanwhile I thought with the holiday so close we might want to switch gears and sum up the trends we all embraced in 2012.

I just can't believe how quickly the year has passed.  Seems like just last week I was totaling up the best chic of  2011. So here's what I've gathered by going through this years posts and runway shows worldwide.  In 2012 we especially loved...

NOVELTY AND TEXTURED LACES - Not just any laces but those out of the ordinary patterns you don't see too often like crocheted and different types of embroidered laces. These on the Ivy & Aster caplet are appliqued. And of course there's Claire Pettibone who has a whole collection of incredible embroidered lace gowns and accessories that stun...

BOUFFANT SKIRTS - Okay I'll admit it, I love bouffant styles. It's so 1960's and designers are introducing looks that conjure the word from hairstyles to big wide skirts with plenty of pouf. Medium to heavyweight fabrics that balloon out when pleated or gathered like taffeta and satin are on trend...

THE BLOUSON - Here's a style that was hot in the 1920's and resurfaced during the late seventies in Qiana and loose-fitting knit fabrics. The reinventions these days in laces and lightweight chiffons are simply gorgeous.

METALLICS - From lame to taffeta shot with gold and silver threads, metallics were allover the runways in 2012. Perfect choice for evening weddings and especially to light up those the fall and winter months.

THE RETURN TO TRADITION - Grace Kelly for sure has left her mark on wedding fashion. All these gowns go back to a time when brides wore a classic look... high neck, long sleeves, white Chantilly lace and long trains. Aren't you glad traditional is still one of your best options...?
