My Favorite Trends for Fall

Posted by Bride Chic on July 12th, 2013

With so many Autumn weddings happening out here in California I've been keeping an eye on trends for fall brides. You see, we've got all this great weather playing perfect host to vineyard and beach bashes. Meanwhile there's a whole country beyond the sunny West Coast where fall is definitely a time for bundling up and keeping the chill off. The point is, wherever you are, fall will be with us before we know it and you'll want in on some of the up and coming chic.

STATEMENT BACKS - Have to say this is the number one trend out there stunning us with beautiful lace patterns and back details. With the availability of novel and one-off laces we're seeing some jaw-dropper variations out there not only in back detail but all over dress applications. Other statement back features we know and love are tiny buttons down the back (always on trend) and some beautiful pick-up variations on bustling...

OVER THE TOP HEADPIECES - Thanks to the British and the tradition of Ascot, the time has come that these pieces don't look so terribly outside the box or like they belong in a museum anymore. While brides have been finding alternatives for the traditional veil for a few years now, big head chic in the form of hats, roses, feathers is definitely in. Below are two gemmies by Phillip Treacy, his work if you haven't seen it is brilliant and raised the bar paving the way for designers worldwide to be whimsical as well as creative...

ILLUSION AND LACE - This see-through fabric has been a staple in bridal wear since Mid-Century when it really came to the forefront and now is making a comeback with new two-way stretch added for comfort. The neckline and/or sleeves in allover lace or illusion create a very feminine, timeless yet real one-of-a-kind couture look.

THE CONVERTIBLE DRESS - Hallelujah! Designers are finally getting the message you'll be going from your ceremony to the biggest party of your life and might just want to make a few adjustments en route. Dresses incorporating  two looks on your wedding day are ideal since the backdrops you'll be the star of are typically two worlds apart

  • Tip: Decide what's most important for you to change out. If you want to be covered up for your nups, try a bolero, removable over blouse or jacket with sleeves and a back. Love that drama? You can also go with a detachable train or over-skirt like the Monique Lhuillier styles below.

INCREDIBLE SLEEVES - I can't count the number of wowzer/knock 'em for a loop sleeves I've seen on the net the past year or so. These by Isabel Zapardiez have their very own silhouette that works in tandem with the overall design of the gown. Look for lots of drama in the hybrid variations that extend into caplets and trains...
