Frenzy over Carrie Bradshaw's wedding gown

For women who dream of scaling similar fashion heights to Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress she wore in the movie may seem like the holy grail.

But fans who want to snag their own copy may have to wait a bit longer. When luxury fashion website Net-A-Porter put a shortened version of the original on sale, it incited a tremendous flurry of excitement, completely selling out that very same day, Celebuzz reports.

It seems the power of SATC to spark a serious fashion lust has not faded, even if Carrie's big moment in the dress was more bittersweet than picture-perfect.

Although Net-A-Porter's current supply has been drained, the site said it is preparing a waiting list for brides-to-be who missed their chance - and who are not put off by a price tag of more than $9,800. Meanwhile, Glamour.com's blog reports that true fanatics can order a custom version from the Westwood boutique in London for $15,700.

Even if you have no intention of parting with that amount of money, you can still visit the Net-A-Porter website to peruse the champagne silk wedding gown, with its satin bustier, built-in corset, full puff skirt with asymmetric hem and silk faille underskirt.
