Let your dog walk you down the aisle? Why not?

Back in April, Jennifer Hudson caused a bit of a stir when she said she wanted her dogs to be part of her wedding.

She told Access Hollywood she wanted her beloved pooches to accompany her down the aisle, perhaps wearing a doggie-sized wedding dress or tux.

Apparently, it turns out that a lot of brides have similar plans for their furry best friends. Figures from the American Kennel Club reveal that 18 percent of dog owners said they have either included or would like to include their four-legged friend in their wedding planning.

Meanwhile, a Canadian Press article reports on a growing trend that could perhaps be best described as "here comes the bride, the groom and their canine."

One bride - Kaycee English of Freehold, New Jersey - told the news provider she dressed her dog Bowser in a tuxedo T-shirt to be the ringbearer on her big day.

"I really wanted everyone I loved there that day," she explained.

Experts say that if you want to involve your dog in your wedding, you should designate someone whose sole responsibility it is to transport and monitor the animal.

And oh, a little shampoo and spa treatment before the ceremony wouldn't hurt either.
