There's been a lot of talk in the wedding world about how platinum is a hot trend - but people are usually referring to engagement and wedding rings.

This week, celebrity party planner David Tutera took the trend one step further by showing a platinum wedding gown at his "David Tutera by Faviana" runway show.

Talk about extravagance - the wedding dress is decorated with 10 feet of platinum chain, 33 carats of diamonds, 145.84 carats of aquamarine, white keshi pearls and a white south sea pearl pendant suspended from platinum.

"I wanted the final dress to be truly awe-inspiring to capture the inspiration and excitement every bride should feel," said Tutera, who collaborated with jewelry designer Erica Courtney to create the gown.

He added that platinum is "the most precious of all metals and lasts a lifetime, making it the perfect symbol for an everlasting marriage."

But if you crave this kind of luxurious symbol, be prepared to pay for it. The platinum wedding gown is priced at $501,640 and can be purchased at Michael C Fina in New York City.
